Hampton Park Baptist Church has been a historic ministry in Greenville, SC, for many years. The pastor, Dr. Drew Conley, has led this church for the last ten years. Their ministry includes a large Christian School and a very strong missions program.

Mr. Fred Coleman, music director, and his wife Ruth, have been long-standing friends dating back to the days where we served together at the same church in Bridgeport, Michigan over 30 years ago. Fred and Ruth are the editors of the hymnal, Hymns: Modern and Ancient. It was special to be able to spend some quality time together.

The focal point of the meeting had a missions emphasis. Each evening we connected with missionaries from around the world through Skype. That was a sheer delight! We also had two missionaries in the services sharing various details about their ministries with the congregation. All of the messages focused on evangelism and discipleship. You can find them here online at www.sermonaudio.com. The church family was very faithful to all of the services throughout the week and the team was encouraged by the positive spirit of God’s people. I was able to spend some time with several of their assistant pastors, Josh Pegram and Chris Barney. The Pegrams have been dear friends for many years. Josh served with us at Northland Camp for a number of summers in key leadership positions. His wife, Liz, worked five summers at the camp. Chris is an outstanding Bible teacher and is always an encourager. I was also able to have breakfast with their former pastor, Dr. David Yearick, who had led this ministry for 39 years. It was wonderful to spend time with this humble man of God. My wife, Terry, was in Denver during the week having a cancer treatment, but she flew in Friday evening just in time to conclude our week at Hampton Park by having breakfast with Pastor Conley and his dear wife, Mary Ellen.
