I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Les Ollila who has just finished 50 years of faithful service to the Lord Jesus Christ and His church. I first met Les in 1978 while I was in seminary. He was a traveling evangelist in a revival ministry. From the time we first connected until now, my heart has been knit to Les and his revival philosophy. I heard him speak on youth work at The Wild’s Fitness Conference in 1979. His lectures were foundational for my youth pastorate in Michigan from 1980-1985. When I began in the ministry of evangelism in 1985, Les’ philosophy of revival meetings was key to the way I approached special meetings in local churches. I was privileged to minister at Northland Camp and Conference Center for 20 years as the camp evangelist and 9 years as the camp director. At the very heart of our camp philosophy was the influence of Les. He spoke to our camp staff and campers nearly every year. My daughters were students at Northland Baptist Bible College while Les was the president and chancellor. His emphasis on the HOWS (Honesty, Obedience, Wisdom, Service) to the Northland student body was priceless. We have had 8 Northland grads travel on our team over the years. All of them are in the ministry today! He has served on the board of the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Association from our start. His advice has been invaluable. The influence, ministry, and philosophy of Les Ollila will never be contained to one location. His life has touched students, college staffs, camps, campers, church staffs, and local church members all over the world. There is only one Les Ollila!
