We drove over to Bolingbrook, Illinois, located in the southwestern suburbs of the greater Chicago area and began on Mother’s Day at Independent Baptist Church. We have been holding meetings with this ministry for the past 18 years under the leadership of Dr. Dave Shoaf. In the two Sunday morning services, I spoke of  The Life and Legacy of Rahab the Harlot.  Many attended on Sunday and we had good crowds throughout the course of the week.
During this week, we were all saddened to receive the news of the death of Megan Hamilton’s brother, Jonathan. It was a tragic loss for the Hamilton family. We so appreciate the parents, Ron and Shelly. They have been such faithful servants of the Lord for so many years. We will continue to pray that the Lord will bring beauty for ashes through this trying time.
I was able to teach the church each night in a pre-service on the series, Getting the Most Out of Your Troubles. It seemed to strike a real cord for the people. Most of the messages throughout the week were geared towards the Christian life, but on Thursday night I was moved to declare the Gospel in the message The 2 Religions of the World.  There was definite sense of God’s presence and conviction during the service. I know the people were moved once again by the power of the Cross! It was good to minister alongside of Pastor Shoaf. He planted this ministry 40 years ago. What a faithful testimony to the Lord! We also enjoyed working with Pastors Troy Shoaf and Jack Lezza. We trust the Lord’s richest blessing on the future of IBC.
